and it works just fine so far as I can tell. I decided to try it any way, and downloaded and set up 15. I tried finding any body who had tried the newer versions with their aging ich10r chipset. I am not sure, didn't go that way for my system.

Since then, windows may have allowed the older drivers to work again.

Looks like win 8 compatible versions worked just fine for people until a win10 update didn't like anything older than 15 what ever version. So I can check on drive health and see when the raid is rebuilding and such from the kids pressing the power button giving me unexpected shut downs.

Windows 10 drivers worked fine, but I wanted the intel RST interface I am running platter disks in a raid configuration. I have an old gigabyte x58a-ud3r board with intel ICH10R based sata controller. There have been some things since, but just to keep things a little fresher, I will post my situation for those with aging systems and this might help. I haven't try other 14.x RST version, maybe some of these is working on W10 like the 13.6 version. Now my PC run on Windows 10 PRO (IT) with RST version 13. version, but before reboot the PC a looked at device manager, I found this behavior and I click on "restore previous drivers" button to revertġ3.6 drivers. Search for new drivers for installed devices, and unfortunately installed the bugged 14.

The second trick is related to the last reboot during upgrade process, after this reboot the system NET 4.5.2, installed it and then installed the Intel RST 13.6, during installation he says that a newer version is already installedĪnd he asked me if I wanted to continue anyway, I click YES and the 13.6 version was successfully installed, after the reboot I.downloaded and reinstalled the.

NET 4.6.1, downloaded the full installation of. Look for a 4.5.x version, To bypass this problem, I uninstalled. NET 4.6.1, if you have already this version on your Windows 7, then the Intel installer don't work because On upgrade my Window 7 Ultimate (IT) to Windows 10 PRO (IT) without problem, only two little trick to use that version. is working on my Windows 10 PRO (IT) though is not declared W10 compatible. I have the same problem with an ASUS P6T Deluxe and a bootable RAID 1 configuration, but perhaps, I found a working solution. So now I'm back on good old Win7 and wondering if anybody has Win10 running on an ICH10R with RAID and RST support and how they did it? Rather well supported and there should be some way to make this work? But after the mandatory reboot I again get a Blue Screen with "Inaccessible Boot Device".īTW I'm sure somebody will recommend Plan "C": Nuke the RAID volumes on the ICH10R and use Windows RAID with the old SATA drivers provided by Win10, but seriously: I like the Intel solution, I'm used to it and my system is admittedly old but still The drivers are about 2 years old! So I tried to force a driver installation via Device Manager / Update Driver and this installed v14. Checked the Intel website but no RST package v.13.3.* is available and Installation of current (v14.) RST software works fine but that doesn't update the drivers and it subsequently fails to start. Obviously without the Intel RST Management software. Nice, but Win10 comes with old RAID drivers v13.3.something and So it's Plan "B", re-install Win10 from scratch! Installation works fine with all drives connected to the ICH10R, all the drives are there, too and Device Manager shows no errors. Also switching the boot SSD back to the ICH10R resulted in an "Inaccessible Boot Device" blue screen.įinally I gave up! Seriously, who needs upgrades when you have backups?
Upgrade on a non-ICH10R controller it didn't recognize any drives (normal or RAID) connected to the ICH10R and no amount of persuasion would help. Upgrade was an unmitigated disaster with 3 days of tweaking settings, uninstalling software and the use of screwdrivers (for a SOFTware update!). Everything works like a charm :-)īut the time came to upgrade to Win10 Pro (DE), it seems the free upgrade expires soon.
since those are compatible to Win10, according to Intel. Intel also provides Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software to manage and The story so far: I'm running Win7 Ultimate (DE) on an ASUS P5Q-E board with Intel P45 Chipset and an ICH10R SATA controller. Hi there, I'm having major Problems upgrading to Win10.
